Unit-1: The cell concept, structure of prokaryotic, eukaryotic cells, plant cells and animal cells, Structure and function of cell membrane, cell organelles and their function, Basics of cell signaling, Structure and use of compound microscope, Basic chemical constituents of living body

Unit-2: Tissues in animal and plants, Morphology, anatomy and functions of different parts of plants: Root, stem, leaf, inflorescence, flower, fruit and seed.
Unit 3
Unit-3: Classification of living organisms (Five kingdom classification, major groups and principles of classification in each kingdom), Systematic and binomial system of nomenclature, Concept of animal and plant classification
Unit 4
Unit-4: Concepts of alleles and genes, Mendelian Experiments, Cell cycle (Elementary Idea), mitosis and meiosis, techniques to study mitosis and meiosis. Origin of life, evidences for biological evolution, Mechanism of evolution −Variation (Mutation and Recombination), Natural Selection with examples, Types of natural selection
