Unit 1
Introduction Sequence of spinning machinery for producing carded, combed and blended yarns in short staple and long staple spinning system; influence of characteristics of raw material – fibre fineness, length, strength, elongation, stiffness, fibre friction, cleanliness on spinning performance; spinnability; Ginning, Objectives of ginning; selection of right type of gins; ginning performance on yarn quality, description and working of Saw Gin, Knife Roller Gin and Macarthy Gin
Unit 2: Blowroom Machinery Opening and Cleaning · Mixing and Blending
Blowroom Machinery Opening and Cleaning: Introduction & Objectives, the need for opening and cleaning, type of opening and degree of opening, impurities to be eliminated. Mixing and Blending: Different methods along with advantages and disadvantages, principle and description of opening, cleaning and blending machines used in blow room; chute feed and lap feed differences; cleaning efficiency and production calculations.
Unit 3
Carding Machine Objectives and Principles of carding, stripping and brushing action; Design and construction of various parts and machine as a whole, Different zones of a carding machine, Mechanics of neps and hooks formation and their control, auto levelling, Calculations related to a carding machine.
Unit 4
Comber Objectives of comber preparatory, detailed study of sliver lap, ribbon lap and super lap formers, objects and principles of combing, sequence of combing operation, combing efficiency and production calculation.
Unit 5
Drawing Frame Introduction, objective of draw frame, operating principle, Attenuation (draft): the draft, the drafting operation, drafting force, behavior of the fibers in the drafting zone, Draw frame operating devices: creel, drafting arrangement- requirements, influences on the draft; elements of drafting arrangements in short staple spinning- bottom rollers, top rollers, top roll pressure, forms of drafting arrangements- 3 over 4 roller drafting arrangement, 3 over 3 roller drafting, 4 over 3 roller drafting, 5 over 4 roller drafting, auto leveler in draw frame. Calculation pertaining to draft and production of draw frame machine.
