BHT601 Advanced Woven Fabric Manufacture Unit-Wise Syllabus

Unit 1: Projectile Weaving Machine
Projectile Weaving Machine: Basic Principle of projectile loom, sequence of weft insertion, beat-up, torsion bar picking, loom timing, let-off and take-up motion, selvedge-formation, Energy equation of torsion bar, velocity and acceleration of the projectile.
Unit 2: Rapier Weaving Machine
Rapier Weaving Machine: Method of weft insertion system- Gabler, dewas types of rapier; rigid, flexible, telescope, weft insertion sequence in rapier weaving process. Different methods to drive the rapier head. Single phase double acting rapier. Velocity of the rapier. Loom timing.
Unit 3: Air jet weaving machine · Water-jet Weaving machine
Air jet weaving machine: Problem in air jet weft insertion, Sequence of weft insertion in air jet loom. Design of confuser guide, design of profile reed and relay jet. Loom timing. Water-jet Weaving machine: Weft insertion mechanism, quality of warp required for water jet, quality of water, problem of water-jet loom.
Unit 4: Multi-phase Weaving Machine
Introduction to terry weaving, Classification of terry fabrics, different mechanism for terry Manufacturing, Properties and performance of terry fabric. Multi-phase Weaving Machine: Basic concept of multiphase weaving: circular weaving machine.
Unit 5
Calculation related to maximum setting of cloth. Determination of Ends per inch and picks per Inch while changing count or weave and its combination to maintain the same level of Compactness. Diameter of yarns Ashenhurst’s & Pierce’s formula for estimation of diameter of yarns. Cloth cover- Derivation and calculation. Fractional Cover, Percentage cover and Cover factor – Calculation for light medium and heavy fabrics.
