Unit 1: UNIT I Cotton Ginning
UNIT I Cotton Ginning:- Introduction of ginning process, Functions of ginning machines, Types of Ginning machines, Pre and post ginning machines and their objects, Factors affecting ginning performance, Influence of ginning on fibre, yarn and fabric quality, Pressing and bailing of Indian and foreign cotton. Objects of mixing, different types of mixing & blending. Difference between mixing & blending. Process flow chart for carded & combed yarn manufacturing.
Unit 2
UNIT II Objects of Blow room for natural and synthetic fibres, Principles of opening, cleaning and mixing. Principles of various opening, cleaning and mixing machines of blow room line, auxiliary devices used in blow room ,. Various zones and machines used in each zone of blow room line , Conventional blow room and Lap formation mechanism.
Unit 3
UNIT III Automatic bale opener, Mild openers/course cleaning machines such as Maxi-flow/ Uni- clean/Vario-clean, modern mixing / Blending machines , Fine cleaning machines such as cleanomat, flexiclean, Intensive cleaners , Waste extracted at various openers and beaters, Cleaning efficiency of different machines, Neps generation in blow room. calculations of speed, production, and pertaining to waste and cleaning efficiency in blow room. Latest developments in blow room.

UNIT IV Lap feed and chute feed system ; Principle and concept of chute feed to card ,Advantages and limitations of chute feed system, Objects of carding, functioning of various parts of Carding , Theory of carding – Opening of fibre mass – Carding action , Web formation and coiling mechanism , Fibre configuration in card sliver, Leveling action, control of Fibre breakage and neps in carding , waste extraction and cleaning efficiency ,

UNIT V Stripping and grinding, Stripping action and carding action, Card Clothing, evolution and Metallic wire details –– Card wire mounting, Tandem carding, Auto leveller used in carding, Various setting in carding machine and implications, Calculation on draft and production of carding.
