Unit 1
UNIT I Functions of draw-frame, Construction details of draw frame, principles of drafting and doubling, Different types of drafting system and their constructional details, weighting in draw frame, draft distribution, doubling and blending, Drafting Theory -Drafting waves, Drafting force , various settings and their implications
Unit 2
UNIT II Coiling system at draw frame , Suction at draw-frame , Automatic can handling, Auto leveling at draw-frame. Online quality monitoring and control, Study of various parts of the draw frame such as creels, top & bottom rollers, pressure bar , roller weightings etc., stop motion used in draw frame, Calculation pertaining to draft and production , latest developments in Draw frame.
Unit 3
UNIT III Pre-combing process, Objects of pre-combing process . Methods of comber lap preparation – Different sequences of comber lap preparation, study of sliver lap machine, ribbon lap machine, Unilap machine, importance of good lap, Calculation related to draft and production, Developments in lap preparatory machines.
Unit 4
UNIT IV Objective of the comber , Constructional details of Comber- feeding, nipper assembly, cylinder comb , top comb and detaching rollers, web and sliver formation, Combing cycle, Forward and backward feed, noil extraction- Automatic and centralized noil extraction, Fractionating efficiency, combing efficiency, Automatic materials handling, Stop motions, Influence of various process parameters on yarn quality, Semi combed, combed and super combed yarn, latest developments in comber machines.

UNIT V Objects of speed frame, Concepts of drafting, twisting and winding process. Constructional aspects of Speed-frame – Creel, drafting system, top arm weighting system , Spindle & Flyer assembly, stop motions etc. Study of bobbin building mechanisms–differential motion, building mechanism, semi-automatic and automatic doffing, block creeling concept , Materials handling. Calculation pertaining to draft and production , Latest developments in speed-frame machines.
